Revitalizing ONS Congress

ONS Congress is the premier oncology nursing conference in the country. Nearly 3,000 oncology nurses converged at the 48th Annual ONS Congress in San Antonio for five days of education, rejuvenation, and celebration. It was our privilege to support the oncology nurses mission and membership journey with the world at this year’s event.

Revitalizing ONS Congress

ONS Congress is the premier oncology nursing conference in the country. Rejuvenate. Refocus. Revitalize.

Collaborating closely with ONS Marketing, Shepard redesigned the ONS Congress experience to foster a bright, campus-like environment that resonated with the organization’s wellness-oriented theme this year: Rejuvenate. Refocus. Revitalize. Attendees enjoyed more than 45 expert-led sessions. Between sessions the nurses took moments for well-being. While the nurses got the chance to learn, network, and engage with fun and relaxing activations, 200 exhibitors showcased their products and services to the nurses.

Fostering a Campus-Like Environment

This year marked a shift to a modern and holistic campus-like experience. The show adopted a soothing color palette of greens and blues, a leafy organic motif, and ample greenery throughout. We blended the color palette curated by ONS Marketing with the natural finishes of the Henry B. Gonzales building. Standard structures were adorned with materials that organically complemented the building’s architecture.

A true campus-like environment, however, is about more than physical spaces; it’s about fostering a sense of community and interaction. We brought this ethos to life by creating gathering spots, engaging corners, and even unexpected surprises – like a mariachi band at the entrance – that brought the showfloor to life.

Zen Den: A Haven of Tranquility

The wellness- and focus-promoting Zen Den area was a big hit with attendees this year. Here, the nurses found respite in a green, multifunctional lounge that hosted activities ranging from interacting with emotional support dogs to instructor-led stretching sessions to browsing the wares of local vendors.

These moments of relaxation, recentering, and fun really brought people together and made the congress feel like a community.

Cookie Printing: A Delectable Twist

The cookie printing station was a unique interactive experience that combined curiosity-arousing technology with a culinary treat. Using an edible printer, attendees had the chance to print their own likeness on cookies! This delightful and popular activation added an element of play and comfort, contributing to the event’s emphasis on wellness and revitalization through fun.

Final Thoughts

Our updated show management presence helped ONS reach a new level of engagement this year, providing the organization with a wealth of marketing materials. More importantly, it strengthened connections within the ONS community. Cheers to everyone who made the redesigned 48th Annual ONS Congress a resounding success!
